Communicate to win is a very easy read with a great deal of invaluable information and ideas around communication.  There are excellent examples putting the majority of the ideas and exercises into practice helping the reader to further understand how the ideas can be applied to real word situations, in both a business and personal environment.  As well as the skill and will quadrant the book highlights some basic communication techniques.  Although the reader may already use some of these techniques subconsciously (for example being aware of the environment and where people sit in a workshop situation),  ‘Communicate to Win’ explains how and why they are effective meaning that when using such techniques after reading the book you can get the most out of them.

Communication Session
The coaching session given to us having read the book supported many of the ideas in the book and extended them further using role play and actually seeing Carolina using some of the techniques outlined in the book.  Again some of the more simple ideas were the ones which had greatest impact on me, particularly the ideas of knowing exactly what it is you want to communicate and having people understand your message – they don’t have to agree with you, just understand.  These are two things I now think about most times I go to pick up the phone both in and outside work
Although initially cynical about reading and going through a session on communication, I found both the book and the coaching session to be very valuable and although there were a lot of ideas to take in the way they were communicated to me meant many of them have stayed with me and I have been able to use many of the techniques outlined.

the book addresses some of the issues that often arise in a
clear and simple way, offering examples to clarify the concepts
that are being expressed and an effective tool to improve/develop

I read it once, then I went back to it to re-read some of the chapters
and in a way I find it is a kind of book that you don't put back on the shelf after you read it
but keep handy to consult it when necessary.
